My Story
I started playing Tee-Ball at age 6 in the Spring of 2000. At age 10 I was asked to tryout for the Montgomery Devils 12U travel softball team after being scouted on the Montgomery Little League All-Stars.
Over time I became Montgomery's everyday third baseman and 3-hole hitter. I ended up my last season with the Devils (2009) batting .443 with 20 RBI, 8 2B, 6 3B, .459 OBP, .696 SLG % (see stats here)
In the 2009/Fall season I tried out for and earned a spot on the Diamond Dolls 18U/Gold team (at age 15). I was the lead off batter and played 2B , 3B and CF for the Dolls. I ended up that season just under .300 with a .347 OBP.
Starting in the fall/winter season of 2010-2011 I joined the Dutchess Debs 18U travel team where I play 2B, 3B and CF while usually hittin 2nd in the lineup. I'm currently batting .444 with a .435 OBP and a .778 slugging percentage.
My high school career (Valley Central HS, AA Section 9 NYS School) started at the JV level in 7th grade at age 13. I played 3B and CF. I played JV until my freshman year when I tried out for and made the varsity squad at age 15 (2009).
View Coach Jordan's assessment of my tryout here.
When I made the varsity squad the infield was already set so I was asked to play left field which I gladly did. Not having much outfield experience at the time, I got a crash-course and did a pretty good job. I was able to play a little third base here and there also.
During the year I earned a starting position on varsity and played most every inning of every game.
I worked my way down the lineup from 9 to 6 or 7 and ended my first varsity season with a .302 batting average .
Starting my second year on varsity (2010 season) I became VC's starting center fielder and back-up third baseman. I was the 2-hole hitter so my role changed to more of a sacrificial one. Moving the runner ahead of me was usually my job while sometimes getting to lead off. That year I lead the team in SAC's with with a .288 BA.
In 2011 I became VC's Lead-Off Batter and Starting Center Fielder.
In 2011 (my junior year) I became VC's leadoff batter while remaining the starting Center Fielder. I hit .380 with a .412 OBP, 21 Runs and 14 RBI. I lead the team in stolen bases and total hits. Defensively I had 27 PO's, 2 Assists and only 1 error - (that's a .967 fielding percentage).
I was the VC Max Preps player of the week (06/05/11) and 2011 Times Herald Record First Team Allstar.
